A Shoot Filled with Chemistry
Invited to her own podcast The Twilight Effect, which she co-hosts with her best friend (and big fan of the saga) Melanie Howe, Ashley confessed that she wasn’t indifferent to her co-star:
“I had a huge crush on Jackson Rathbone during filming,” she admits with a laugh. “From our very first meeting, I thought: This guy is really cute and such a Southern gentleman. Plus, he sang, he taught me how to swing dance… And since he was supposed to be my great love on-screen, I thought: This is going to be easy!”
A Crush… That Didn’t Last
But no panic for fans of the “Alice & Jasper” romance: this little flame didn’t withstand the test of time. Ashley specifies that it was a completely harmless crush, which didn’t continue through the five films of the saga (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn Part 1, and Part 2).
According to her, Jackson probably suspected it, but he never showed any signs of interest on his side. And in retrospect, Ashley admits she hadn’t yet learned to separate on-screen chemistry from real feelings.
Today, a New Love Story
No romantic sequel in real life for Alice and Jasper then… but everything is fine for Ashley! 💕 The actress married entrepreneur Paul Khoury in 2018 and the couple is expecting their first child.
